Samsung R41 Malaido

Samsung R41 Malaido

The first notebook where Samsung tried to crack the notbooks market

in Europe, 3 and 1/2 years ago, taunting Vista capable at the time.

Priced at €800 it was very competitive with one of the few that

Looks & Design

Nothing is fancy about this SAMSUNG, simple form and clean, no

extra modding.

Screen:

The 15.4-inch screen makes the notebook portable, and well suited

for home entertainment. The screen is bright and colourful, but

lacks the sharpness.

Keyboard

Keys are solid and responsive and comfortable.

Touchpad

It is of a wide footprint, responsive and comfortable. One can

turn it off with the assistance of a FN key combination.

Multimedia Keys

It is noted that it was innovative for Samsung to offer

. a FN key to turn off the touch pad when an external mouse is

being used

. a FN key to turn off the screen on demand

. a FN key to throttle the comp when on battery

Wireless Performance–

Good connectivity, with its ability to quickly find and connect to

the home network.

Optical Drive

The double layer supporting DVD drive performs flawlessly and

quietly

Sound

So so sound quality, not to expect too much from any notebooks.

Heat and Noise

It is a cool and quiet running machine. One can hardly expect with

only a vent on the side.

Gaming Performance

I will update the review in this area shortly, but can't really

expect much from a 2.4 WEI machine

System Performance

... to be updated

Input and Output Ports

Right Side:

Left Side:

Rear:

Bottom:

Gaming Possibilities

... To be updated.
. 3DVantage:

. CoD4

Battery Life

Surprisingly after 3 years plus the battery can still pull a good

1hr50min working condition.

Pros:

. Very competitive price at introduction
. Fair to good system performance
. (Very) Quiet Operation

Cons:

. Integrated GPU.

Conclusion:
This is a good introductory machine that runs well with Vista.
