Calpella right around the corner?

Word around the interweb is that Calpella is going to be released on September 23rd. Should we expect to start hearing about Sager's first Calpella rig soon? I'm hoping it'll be based on the 9850 chassis, with SLI. I've been needing a new laptop for months, but I'm glad I slacked for this long.

Here's one of the articles re: the release date: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/dis...September.html

I know Intel hasn't confirmed it, but it doesn't seem far-fetched.

I've read sometime in September or October, so that date sounds easily possible.

Nobody's heard any rumors about what Sager's going to give us, and at what price?

I'm guessing Intel's got all the ODMs & OEMs locked down with a non-disclosure agreement until release (or very close to it)

If a Calpella version of a 9850 is going to cost as much as a small car, I hope they at least put wheels on it. Perhaps vectored exhaust ports can provide the thrust.

Im in the same boat, but am waiting for the Clarksfield in a 5797. (wish it had a lighted keyboard)

The other advantage of a new chip release is the fact that the current line will be discounted.

Now I'm reading that Calpella will be released on October 22, to coincide with the release of Windows 7.

Where did you find that? The latest news I could find still points to September 23rd.

I read it in a few places, but here's one: http://www.internetnews.com/hardware...+Windows+7.htm

I guess it doesn't actually say it won't be out prior to October 22, just that it will be out by then.

chunkdside has a few people on his/her side.
The three chips -- the i7-720QM, the i7820QM and the i7-920XM -- all have four cores and support HyperThreading technology, and have batch prices of $364, $546 and $1054, respectively.
