Looking for a free or cheap WaterMark program

Its been driving me nuts not being able to watermark my Pic's before posting them on line.
I plan to attend a big race next week & plan to take lots of Pic's & then share them on line & MUST watermark them 1st.

They're nothing fancy.

Just enough for people to know I took the picture.

I have the latest greatest MacBook Pro 15 & need what ever free or Cheap download thats easy to use on my LapTop.

Thank you very much , in advance for any help you can provide me.

Hmm almost any decent image editor should be able to do this. For instance Gimp is open source (Free) and can do it(Not certain if Seashore can do it). But most people actually make the watermark image beforehand and use something like imagemagick to add it to images automatically, particularly when dealing with CMS systems for websites this can be automated, but even without them you can do it via a simple script on OS X, and in fact may already be several scripts out there available to do this.

Photoshop CS is more than capable of doing this as well.

Use GIMP as suggested above. It works fine (and FREE) on OS X.

You need to install X11 before using Gimp, if it is not already installed you can find it on your OS discs to install.

Don't know anything about Imagewell.

What exactly don't you understand about Gimp? Especially if you use Photoshop you should be able to find your way through the basics of Gimp without much problem.

It might be X11 installs with Leopard and newer by default, I honestly can't remember, and didn't bother to check on this install as I needed to upgrade it for Inkscape anyways.

To open a picture in it... go to File > Open...
To import a different picture as a layer in the same image File > Open As Layer

So to do basic watermarking, I would Open the image you want to watermark, open the watermark as a new layer. Resize as appropriate. Adjust opacity as needed. Export/Save as a PNG or JPG, whichever you prefer.

The only thing I could think of possibly confusing about it would be that the menu bar for the program is in the main/document window for Gimp, not at the top like most Mac OS X programs. This is true of any software run in X11.

But that is about all I can think of.

Youtube offers loads of step-by-step and specific tasks about using GIMP. For a free tool, it is quite powerful.

cheers ...
