W700ds user upgrades
I'm looking into ordering a Lenovo w700ds, and I wanted to find out if anyone out there has had the pleasure of cracking one open and upgrading any of the components inside. I'm mostly concerned with upgrading the CPU, hard drive(s), and maybe the video board.
My current machine is a Sager, and even though it's on it's last leg, it has performed admirably over the last 3 years and was the most user friendly when it came to upgrades. My inner penny-pincher is kicking in, since getting a fully maxed-out w700ds carries a staggering price tag. But if I can upgrade to a better CPU or HDD as I need them, it would be really cool. |

Looks like I answered my own question, thanks to the wonderful documentation Lenovo provides deep inside their website.
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/43y9442_04.pdf There's a link to a service manual with all the spiffy part numbers and everything. So, I guess if anyone else out there was looking to eventually upgrade one of these w70 beasts, all the instructions you'll need are in that PDF. |
