Mobile Core i7 Impresses in First Review

From the first review of mobile Core i7, it seems Intel has another hit on their hands. The new 1.73 Ghz Core i7-820QM kept pace with the 2.53 Ghz Core 2 Quad QX9300 in performance and used approximately half the power to do so, more than doubling idle battery life.

Quote:
When it arrived on the desktop scene, Intel’s Core i7 levelled the opposition. With enough power to embarrass Intel’s own Core 2 architecture, not to mention AMD’s efforts, and coming at a cost that would make even a banker weep, Core i7 set the benchmark and set it high. Now it’s set to repeat the trick in the laptop market, and we’ve got our hands on a sample boasting the mid-range quad-core 1.73GHz i7-820QM.

...

If you’re not bothered about the details and just want to know how fast it is, the answer is very, very fast.

jeffreybaks is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
I was realy exited to see this put into the new m15x. Realeasing new medium sized laptops like the m15x, with these powerfull processors realy enhances them , and makes them a viable choice from sli/crossfire notebooks...

Intel is just moppin the floors with AMD. I'd be surprised if the shift power changes.... Right now I have no interest in buying AMD or Ati. Remember back in 2004 when it was the opposite??

I'll totally agree about Intel dominating for central processors, but at the moment, I'm definitely leaning toward ATI over Nvidia for graphics cards. AMD's graphics division is not only the first to have a viable DirectX 11 graphics card on the market, but by the time Nvidia has their first DX 11 card out, ATI will have released their whole lineup, and based on a difference in GPU die sizes, the ATI parts should cost less, too.

i7=exciting! Remember that QX9300 it hung with it would crush in dual and single threaded apps. It would run at higher clocks and does more per clock.

I am really really thinking this turbo is the best thing Intel has done in I can't remember when.
