Dead u305??
I was using my u305-s2804 the other day and it just shutdown without notice. I was able to start it back up yesterday when I pulled the battery out and only used the AC adapter, but now I can't even do that. I get the battery and power indicator lights when I have the battery installed and the AC power plugged in, yet when I push the power button, it attempts to start for a split second but then all lights go out. I can't even get the AC plug light to come on half the time. I've ordered a new battery in hopes that this might solve the issue, but does anyone have any other suggestions??
Worse case scenario- how can I transfer everything from my HD to a new computer if I can't even start the old computer? |

What about trying with another ac adapter?
You can try remove the drive and perform a clone on it, or just access to get the data via an external housing. cheers...

I don't have an additional AC adapter on hand, but will try that this week.

Take it out and use another pc with 2 USB housings and give it a go, if the notebook is still down. I recommend taking a look at Acronis True Image for this job.
cheers ...

I was actually able to get the power light to come on last night when I plugged it in without the battery. This leads me to think that it's not the power cord or the input. However, when I push the power button to turn everything on, it attempts to start for a split second, then goes black. No lights, nothing.

Not really, a failing adapter would cut out as soon as the connection is being made also.
cheers ...

I finally got a new AC adapter and a new battery and I'm having the same issues as before. Any new suggestions or is it time for a new laptop??

Last thing I would try is replacing the CMOS battery. A long shot. And after that I would write the comp off.
Hopefully someone else has more ideas. cheers ...

No ,no , no NOT BATTERY, NOT AC ADOPTER it's the ac inlet on ur laptop that needs to be changed some types of laptops have a poor design that cause them to wear out over time. To be sure try not to move the laptop when plugged into adopter gently play with the plug (part plugged into laptop) ontil the light come's on. then u should be able to boot without a problem just remember when the power light comes on do move the laptop(the slightest motion will shift the plug) then turn on and it should boot. Let me know the outcome, pretty sure it will work!
