updated review with Battery test

2.5 hours brousing the internet on Battery

Really helps when the laptop switches over to the built in GPU

I am probably going to swapp m QX9300 from my M6400 and the Q9000 in this M17x this weekend.

Run some benchmarks using both and see how they compare

Goody goody, will we be having a pictorial guide of the CPU swapping/upgrading then?

cheers ...

That won't be much of a comparison.

Oh, don't be spoiled sport, we want pics and numbers

And yes it sure would be a good thing to know - the "not much of a comparison" for users to watch out $ vs performance upgrade.

cheers ...

I would take a T9600, T9800, T9900, P9500, P9700, x9100 and QX9300 over a Q9000. Lots to choose from! The Q9000 doesn't OC well and has less cache than the other quad cores. It's probably one of the last procs I would choose. The qx9300 benchmarks will blow the q9000 out of the water. Like I said not much of a comparison.

Speaking of OC'ing have you played around with it yet Dave?

So I swapped the QX9300 into my M17x tonight,

So the wireless cards are located under the palm rest, which is easily removed by removing the three screwsin the battery compartment.

And for qhn - I took a keyboard picture a little blurred but it is evenly lit up IMO

I would have to dd that replacing the CPU on the M17x was esaier than the M6400

I also took some shopws of the cooling for the two GTX280 GPU's which are locaetd on the right and left sides of the laptop.

There is a small flat ribbon cable that provides the SLI connection from the GPU on the right to the left.

The color schemes can all be setup in the Alien FX software that comes with the unit.

That software lets you setup the various color options for the entire laptop

and they keyboard has 4 defined areas plus the touch pad that can all be setup with different colors

I try to take some shots on the weekend prodiving this "tech" doesn't break my laptop on Friday.
