So, external or internal monitor, the comp will not start up? Did you try removing and re-seating the memory and drive again? Did it work for a little bit again?

When you said "working for a little bit", did it switch off after a while, or would it not start again after you turned it off?

cheers ...

the laptop worked for a bit but when i swiched it off and tried to power it up again it didn't work. i have removed the memory and the hard drive and put it back in again no luck. when you say removing the memory and re-setting it what do you mean is there a way of re-setting it. thanks dan

By re-seating, I meant to remove it, then re-install it, making sure that it snaps in correctly.

I personally would try with another ac adapter (without the battery), another stick of ram as next step.

cheers ...

Check eBay.co.uk? They can go as low as 10 quids for a 512MB module.

cheers ...

One stick is fine, and try it on different slots, just to eliminate the issue with a "bad" slot.

cheers ...

Other than for some weirdo ram brand name, I always go with the cheap ones that I can find. Working for me so far

This is your ram specs, I believe:

Well of course, it will fit into the slot .... but if it is not of the right specification, it might have a small issue in working with your notebook.

cheers ...
