boba171 is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
video driver

Alienware forces you to use their drivers, you can't install the latest from NVidia on Alienware machines. Is it the same with Hypersonic, or do they allow you to upgrade drivers directly from the manufacturer?

Manufacturers don't "force" customers to use their drivers, but it is normal that they would update to newest drivers, package them and then make them available on their support site - as needed. This is to ensure the smooth running condition of any models.

You can try to go outside this framework, and download the latest drivers with some tweaks to make it accepted; or search for modded drivers on the net. We have our own here at NBF Mobile Force section. Give that a shot.

But unless there is an issue with the driver that you must upgrade, I would personally leave it alone.

cheers ...
