Windows 7 - upgrade or clean install?

Hi, I've just received my upgrade kit from ACER for Windows 7. The question is should I use the discs to upgrade from Vista or choose the option to do a clean install? I've heard that previously with Windows upgrades it is best to do a clean install then there is no conflicts/problems from the previous O/S??

I personally take the upgrade path, less headache.

cheers ...

I here what qhn is saying but I do believe its better to start with a fresh install, it can be done with the upgrade disc. But if you realyy do not want to reinstall all your stuff and backup gigabytes of downloads then go with the upgrade.

Fresh install, hands down. Manually backup whatever crap is needed. Why? Because when has MS ever been able to do anything right....such as data and settings migration?

They sure are doing a heck of a job with W7 migration at the moment. 52 migration exercises/systems in the office, not one dead-beat! ;-)

cheers ...

But don't you like having the new OS smell? And personally I kinda like re-tweaking my OS settings with a fresh install maybe finding things that I did wrong before.

That reminds me need to update my signature since I'm now 7/XP (primary) dual booting.

Did think about that new smell ;-) but it would be hell if we lose any of the pre-configured apps for customers support.

cheers ...
