Why do you need it? Why not just reinstall the OS and the apps from the resource DVD. It's the same thing.

it's not at all the same. if i mess up an an my hard drive crashes all would have to do it hit F10 follow the instruction an go to the garage an smoke..

then when i get back all it back

no installing one file at a time. which as you know is a pain in the *ss.

I do it for a living so I'm used to it. Set it up once the way you like it and then use cloning software for future installs.

yah i worked on computers for years myself. mostly just installing windows, drivers, some software. i can take any Dell Laptop from like 2004 to the M1730's completely apart an back together in like an hour.

I know i can do the cloning thing but ive never done it.

I want back factory. i know its stupid an all. but i really won't be happy until i get it back the way it was when i got it.

im gonna call dell after 9pm cause alienware's last call the guy said it was not there responsibility to send me the respawn kit. they said it was dell's cause i send my damaged laptop to dell so he said they have to send me the discs.

an i know what dell is gonna say. "it's not an xps it's an alienware you need to contact them" at least that was what they (dell) told me the last few times i called them.

but it will work out. i hope...

the ssd drive i purchased was from newegg, a decent price. i got the corsair P128 ssd and the read / write speeds are decent Sequential read 220mb/s, write 200mb/s.. this drive flies!! as to your question when you reinstall vista using your cd it will reinstall the alienware symbols in windows and use your resource cd to reinstall all the other alienware software like your command center.. your o/s will look just like the factory install

As an IT pro the residual affects of using the recovery software have to make you a little leery. Wouldn't you prefer to have the system setup to your standards versus the standards of a big corp who main goal is mass production?

If you install via the OEM OS DVD provided all that stuff is there already.

The Corsair P128 is another Samsung drive with no trim support. He would need to find out the firmware version to see if garbage collection is even supported.

Samsung is supposed to be releasing a firmware update to support GC and TRIM.

According to my drive firmware Rev it's already supported on my 256 GB

The 128 GB Apogee I am not sure - not much data on it from chaintech

Which is supported? I haven't heard of any firmware release from Samsung supporting trim. Did they finally release one? Which firmware revision did Dell give you?
