Angry m5550 will not hibernate

Hey guys, sad that I only post here when I have problems

Another issues with my m5550, specs in my signature I believe.

I usually close my lid, and my computer will hibernate which I like to do before I go to bed so I can resume what I was doing in the morning when I wake up.

All of a sudden, it no longer does that. Instead, it just goes to standby.

Yes, I know how to go into the power settings and tell it what to do when I close the lid and what not. This is what happens: it says "standby" so I change it to "hibernate" and click apply. Then I go to close my lid, and it goes to standby. I go to check the settings again and it says standby... again! Even if I DONT close my lid I just click out of the power settings and go back into them it changes back to standby.

I have no idea why this is happening but its very frustrating. I never had a problem before. I think my laptop is dying a slow and painful death *sigh* it's always acting emo these days

Please help me if you can, much appreciated. Maybe ill run into some familiar faces in the process

If you have a restore point, that is where I would look into first.

cheers ...

I'd rather not, I don't like to do system restores. Thank you anyways

Restore point has nothing to do with "full" system restore. It just brings you back to where your now issue was working before.

cheers ...

I'm wondering if it wasn't an update of some kind that ran in the background?
