Qosmio X500 11M

So what is peoples expectations of this machine

http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...ibaShop/false/

, its due out this month in UK for £1399.99 and I wonder how it will perform as a games machine , specifically I wonder how the 360M will perform in the real world compared to say a 280M

Seems a reasonable price and comparable to offerings with 280M in price and spec

It is a good specs machine with a good price. I give up guessing what nVidia does with re-badging their GPU. The 260M "beats" the 360M, so 280M is ahead of 360M.

cheers ...

Yes it looks like a good price for UK and it does have some power under the hood but man is it big.

Have you considered buying from the US? That notebook including VAT is $2,189 US.

An Asus G73JH-A1 w/i7 720QM, HD5870, 8GB RAM and 2x500 @7200 HDD's, BR. $1594.83. So

Customs Fee. = Around 5% of the Laptop's price. $79.74
VAT = 10% of the Laptop's price=$159.48.
Handling Fee = £12=$18.72
Fee to Royal Mail. = £8=$12.48
Shipping from USA to UK. ( Approx £65 ) $101.40
Asus has two year Global warranty.

$1966.65

You need to double check my costs but it might be cheaper to get a better spec'd Asus from US than Toshiba in UK?

There are many retailers who sell and will ship to UK one is XoticPC.

Just thoughts.

. VAT is 17.5%
. European tax would add up to 14% on some items
. both VAT and European tax are calculated based on the total of goods+postage.

XOtic has a deal with UK custom that is different from other retailers?

cheers ...

Thanks for the info , doing a bit of digging , it looks like that Import Duty is not charged on Laptops so......

Customs Fee. = 0
VAT = 17.5% of the Laptop's price=$279.10.
Handling Fee = £12=$18.72 (what is this for?)
Fee to Royal Mail. = £8 or $12.4 (charged because vat is charged)
Shipping from USA to UK. ( Approx £65 ) $101.40 (Take your word for it I cannot find any rates pages)
Asus has two year Global warranty.

so total price should be $2006.45 or roughly £1286.53

Hmm tempting , I guess it comes down to the warrenty , if I had a problem I guess I would have to return to US at my cost which would be another $200 (both ways)

You need to confirm shipping price that just seems low even though I pulled it off a post board.

The Asus has Global warranty with free shipping so that was a bonus. So you do not have to send to States.

Contact one of the resellers and ask them things like cost I am sure most have shipped to UK? That model was about £1750 after VAT at UK site.
