Let Me Guess, Your Phase Is Not Moving @ Alienware.com

Alienware does not frequently update the current phase you are in. It is random, or in the exact words of the rep I spoke to, it is updated when staff is given an oppertunity to do so. Also the site does not track your status progressively, for example, you may skip from phase 3 to phase 9, and from phase 9 directly to phase 14 (Any and all variations are possible). If you call them, they will tell you exactly what phase you are in. Do not grow frustrated that your status is not moving step by step, minute by minute. Believe me, your status more than likely has progressed, it just has not been updated on the website, thus your feeling of abandoment concerning the completion of your prized possesion, the AW SUPER DUPER.

For example, my system had already shipped, and had departed the Florida area. However, on Alienware's phase status page, I was still in phase 12. This is very common, and has happened, and is happening with many people on this board.

ZH,

You're close but I think to say it is "Random" is a bit off. Revise this sucker and I'll stick it.

According to the lady on the phone, it is random, and is usually done after hours. I pointed out to her though that I had seen it updated both after hours, and at mid day. She then went on to say, it is more along the lines of when they have an oppertunity to do so. I will add this in.

RESOVIA is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
I just have a single question... WHY ARE THE REPS UPDATING THIS???... There has to be a set of handheld computers that register the progress of the computer... A $4000+ piece of machinery cannot just be floating around the factory there must be a system that verifies which box, desk, shelf or workstaion it is at right now... Whats so hard about making a little short program that will take the information and divide it into the phases so that you can see it done in real time like they advertise???... Wouldn't this save mucho dinero for the company in workhours and customer satisfaction? But hey this is America if there is a half assed way to do something welle screw it up really good... Coincidentally is the same person that updates the site responsibe for the inventory... it sure would explain why theres something constantly on backorder, the poor guy has to personally maintain the status of all those machines and parts tsk tsk

HAHA im starting to believe my own bull a single guy for a factory that size to do all that... seem impossible but than again it would explain a lot

Maybe its a conspiracy that involves slavery

SAVE THE ALIENS!!!

Wow you rarely hear that in the movies

Well, a single guy must be handeling system orders as well, because right now I have a phantom system in the mail, and I do not know what to say, I am speechless, I really do not need a second AW, and I do not know why one is being sent to me.

Phases keep in in nots.

I bought my laptop on sept 8th and the website said it would ship on sept 17th. I know now that the website mislead me.

Phase 1 sept 8-10
phase 2 sept 10-13
phase 3 sept 13-17
phase 4 sept 17 to present day

I originally bought the laptop on the notiopn that i would get it on the ship date because i had to leave for 4 months very soon. I was wondering if anyone knew how long it genereally took to get the laptops.

I am beginning to wonder myself if mine is going to be shipping out by the date I got when I ordered it. When I called the one time they asked me what date the web site told me I was going to get it. I told them it said the 22nd, so they said that it would be shipping out by then most likely. I have been calling everyonce and a while just to make sure things are still moving along and so far so good. I would suggest if you are worried about not getting it on time just give them a call.

ah phases...a mixed blessing. I'm one of those whose checking phases like 8 times a day, and not just for my Alienware purchase. From past experience, Alienware is not the only one whose site tends to be not up-to-date on phase of product shipment. Remember a website is just a customer-relations field, its generally last on the 'things to upkeep and update' as far comp systems go. I wouldn't rely on emails or website's for order status (though i should listen to what i'm saying heh heh ), as was posted, a call to them would give you a more accurate phase-status.
I"ld just recommend you not pay attention to it, 'a watched pot never boils'.
