mliu66 is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
Please help find this A 64 laptop

My requirement:
15.4 WXGA or WSXGA
K8 3200+
ATI 9600/9700 w 128M

The emachines 6809 has only 9600 w 64m VRAM and it looks ugly and cheap. Any alternative?

It doesn't have wide screen and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder anyway (I think the m6809 looks quite fine.) But it has the 3200 and the 128 mb of VRAM you want.

Someone else may find a better match or you can wait for July when ABS is releasing the Mayhem G3 which is 15.4" WXGA, Athlon64, and has the ATI 9700 w/ 128 mb.

Hopefully there's another good reputable reseller who has it but none come to mind at the moment.

I think the speaker on this one is kind of shabby, isn't it?
I tried 680X in a local bestbuy and I really dislike its looking, all the cheap plastic stuff...
I ever thought of HP/Compaq, but the video card is unacceptable.

Hope we have something released in July...
Thanks

Well, with a few exceptions, people agree that notebook speakers generally stink compared to external speakers or headphones so I wouldn't place that as a priority really...

Just wait until September when 5.1 channel sound will be introduced by intel into notebooks along with the alviso chipset.

For AMD notebooks, the best information is found at:http://www.amdboard.com/athlon_64_notebook.html

Lists all the latest models from virtually every vendor. Also provides cross-referencing between all the various resellers models and gives you links to their sites, at least a goodly portion of them. Have fun and don't drool too much.
