Never deal with UPS if u can avoid them
I am sooo pissed off with UPS. it is so frustrating to talk to them. when i see a UPS truck i am gonna go and beat up the drivers...
after getting my prostar 3742 (Sager 3760) the first time, it was defective. so i sent it back and they repaired it and sent it back. again, it was defective, so i sent it back. but guess what happened on the second return!!!?? UPS lost my package. I was told that the tracking number is not mine and basically, technically speaking they dont even know of me. when i asked them to trace my package they refused to do so because i was not the lawful owner of that tracking number according to them. so i call payless shoes, the company who supposedly the tracking number belonged and convinced them to call UPS and place a trace on the package because that T# was not theirs. After they accept that they lost my package, they tell me to fax the receipts in. I fax the papers 3 times!!! not kidding you, went to Kinkos and faxed it from there 3 times because they kept losing my faxes!!! (yeah right) then i finally got something going after such a long delay and then they tell me that the person who filled out ur receipt didnt mention the insurance value on it. so technically speaking it means that u have no insurance. i convince them that just do the math and it will make sense that i paid for insurance. now i insured the laptop for $1700 and they are saying that u only insured it for $1600. Its not my fault if the person who wrote out the bill cant do math and wrote down wrong values. i was not gonna sit on the phone when placing my order and start doing the math of insurance and shipment. plus i spent $9 faxing stuff (only 2 times, i am not counting the first time because i would have had to do it in any case) which they are not willing to refund because they lost my faxes. I am being offered $1600+ $12.85 for the shipment when i am asking for ATLEAST $1700 + $12 (the shipping costs i was told) + $9 (faxing). i took a student loan to buy my laptop because I didnt have the money and guess what, its like i just lost a part of the loan because of UPS. Furthermore, their losing my package threw me over 3 weeks behind schedule and I had to go through the end of my semester (when all projects are due) without a laptop. Any of you have had bad experiences with UPS or know how to deal with them such that I can get my rightful money? I hate to give in to these corporate **** holes. God, I HATE UPS. Never doing business with them. Yeah, they work just fine when they do the job right. but when they screw up they make u go through hell.

well, i disagree that its not the companies fault entirely.
well, yeah, a human being made the mistake, but that person was an employee of the company. now if a company is not responsible for the employees mistake then whose is it? it obviously is not mine. i personally didnt get pissed when i first found out that the package got lost. but the amount of nonsense i had to go through which took so much of my time just doesnt seem right. now how is that the companies fault -> they prolly have a crappy system that they operate on. they are the ones who screwed up the tracking number matter, they screwed up the delivery, i wasnt permitted to place a track on my own T#. these are all part of their faults.

Regardless of which carrier is used, always request a fully documented receipt, especially in regards to insurance. In fact, demand one - even if hand written, with each and every detail accounted for explicitly. This may seem overkill, but the adage regarding an ounce of prevention is true. Similar cases unfortunately develop, and no doubt other users could recount their issues and how a tiny bit of documentation and preventative measure would have circumvented their issues entirely (see FriedToast's issues here). While none of these suggestions are likely to aid your current situation, hopefully they aid others and prevent similar issues from arising. Would suggest contacting UPS Customer Service again, and (in a courteous manner) explain the situation in detail. Escalate through the supervisory chain of command, if necessary, in a calm and rational manner. That typically helps a great deal in securing what is sought. Good luck.

A misscan is when an employee does not scan a package but loads it into the right trailer. This happens a lot due to people not being able to check if the bar code is not working and that people sometimes cover up the bar making it impossible to peel back the sticker without damaging the tracking number or bar. People get frustrated an would "miss" scanning a package but this is no big deal since all packages gets scanned when they arrive at thier destination. A misload is when a person loads the wrong package to the worng destination which then adds more time to shipping. |

Did you even keep the piece of paper that has your tracking number on it? Even though they already admitted to their mistake, it is up to you to give a detailed invoice of the item; I am assuming you just fax several documents to us and wanted us to do the calculation. How did you ship your package; what was the package like? I'm asking because a lot of people don't know how to ship anything. Did you use the same package that had tracking numbers from previous shipments? You will be surprise how many people do this; can't people understand that they cant have two different shipping labels on the same package; if they don't do it on a letter why do it on a package. |

ok how about this one. Bought a 2000 dollar desktop. USP shipped it and left it on the front door then took off. It was raining and to make maters worse it had a BIG sticker on the side that said must sign for delivery. The Desktop was ok as it was sealed in plastic inside the box. However the funny part is when I checked the tracking number it said Dr. Porch signed for it. Man I gave them so much crap for that when I called it.
Or how about my old zd7000 that they delivered to the wrong address. Man I bet some guy was all happy.

after the first day, it was set on target to reach its destination.
the weight was right and everything was fine. then the next day the weight became 30lbs from 12 lbs, and it got delivered somewhere else. i have my receipt still with me. in terms of a detail invoice - well, this was the first time i was calling 1800CALLUPS to do a pickup and i didnt know what exactly should i look for on a receipt. my box showed the sticker very clearly. after all it went all the way from berkeley to Sylmar, CA correctly. it is over there where things went weird. btw, i have always been courteous when i spoke to UPS. i am expressing my anger here because no matter how nice i am they dont care. All they tell me is, "I understand your trouble sir, and i give my apologies [but we cannot do it]" and btw, i think its completely reasonable to ask them for my fax payment because they lost my faxes. i went to kinkos and faxed it. i am a poor broke student. i cant just afford to lose 100 bucks here, 10 bucks there. i dont take loans so that UPS can screw up and use me as a test dummy.

Unfortunately, a few of life's lessons are difficult as one is growing up, and it is by mistakes we as humans learn more often than not. Please do not misunderstand; believe you have been wronged, and I think that is unfortunate. If you've persued the customer service path as far as possible (it sounds as though you may have reached that point), it may be time to simply accept the loss, and learn from the experience. It could be far worse - it could be a $1723 loss, instead of merely $110. Regardless, good luck.

Might want to get the facts straight before spreading information like that. If you saw one guy doing it, that's one thing (someone who obviously needs to be fired), but to say that the company does it as a whole is just stupid, IMO. ![]()

I am sure there are many UPS guys doing their job well, but I also just received my 8790 and they just left it on the front door. We were home all day but they didn't even bother to ring the doorbell. Why!? It was just by pure chance that we needed to go out the front door to check the mail or whatever and there it was. I just don't understand the reason for doing that. This also means no one signed for it. Is this really bad?

Dr. Vencman, if the shipper didn't request Sign for Delivery, then there's really nothing much that anyone will do. It's not right that the driver didn't at least knock or ring the doorbell. That seems somewhat silly. And even though the box might say Personal Computer on it, the UPS drivers don't know what's in the boxes and I might add, are so busy generally, they probably don't bother reading anything other than the label to where it's going- I know I often didn't. As for the boxes, there are thousands and thousands of re-used boxes everyday, so one never knows what's in a package.
That doesn't excuse them, though, for shoddy service. It's all up to the individual driver. I know where I worked there were a lot of hard-working people, but all it takes is one moron to undo all the goodwill built up by the ones busting their butts.
