General horsing around yeild about 4 hours, although Im still cycling the batt. I can say that batt life is orders of magnitude above the P4 Fujitsu I used previously. That thing would cough up a breath of HOT air every few minutes. So far, I have not heard a fan yet on this Acer. Does it even have a fan?

I want long run DVD as well. I will test this weekend.

how about the display of the colors? TFT/LCD screens doesn't have good color displays compared to CRT monitors...

it's a really annoying thing when you work with photoshop and webdesign stuff

I have not had any sticky key trouble. The keyboard is not bad, although its a little tight for my big meathooks as they all seem to be.

The screen is nice, not as nice as the Fuji crystalview I tried first. Its entirely acceptable overall, but if heavy vid editing is your thing you should take a look before buying.

the 2025 comes with an 80GB 4200rpm HDD, which is pretty ridiculous when you think about its large price tag.

He's right. Its the slow drive.

I personally value space>speed.

I can always fix this later.

However, the overall system perf is not bad at all.

In fact, I will go on to say this is one outstanding machine.

The only minor complaints:

USB on the back only.
Keyboard a bit odd.

A 100GB 7200rpm HDD is in the works; definitely something I would consider worth buying.

in general. I don't think acer will be stepping on the bandwagon anytime soon. they assume that the majority of their buyers are uneducated when it comes to lappys and thus will think that the more GBs the better and won't think about the rpm. Thus, they'll keep putting low rpm HDDs into their lappys.

More HD rpms decrease the battery life so you really have to think before getting a good 60GB(biggest so far) 7200 drive for more than 200 bucks. You WILL get better performence but your battery life decreases just like when you OC or your screen is larger in size (like those 17-inch monsters). So everyone should have this in mind and decide what is best for himself - superior performance with a 7200rpm HD or longer battery life. For the general user 4200rpms is more than enough although I personally would have preferred the 5400 HD in the Aspire 2020 series which seems like the best from both worlds.
Don't ask me how much a 7200 HD will decrease your battery life cause I don't have a laptop - actually I am looking to buy my 1st ever - but just happen to know a thing or two about them.
In fact I would greatly appreciate if someone with an Aspire 2025WLMi or Aspire 2012WLMi has upgraded to a 7200 HD and can let me know how much exactly did that upgrade cost him/her in battery life.
Thank you.
