Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Hmm, all this mention of 2x speeds on the DVD burning. Just a quick question, roughly how fast is that? How long would it take to burn, say, a movie DVD?

Well... depends on the size of the movie I guess.

I dont copy many movies. I use my DVD burner to make data discs, as it will hold about 4.5 gigs. CD-Rs dont hold my backup data anymore.

I dont do it often enough to know. I see that the 16x dual layer burners are about 100$, the regular size ones. Best bet, if you are into this, is get a firewire enclosure and a big boy. Much cheaper, faster, more versatile in the long run.

Update- the door that covers the ports on the side... I forgot to close it... and threw it in my laptop bag... guess what popped off. Crap.

And I was just about to drill a hole in it to accomodate my new bluetooth card, about to arrive. Well, poopy.

I will get a new one from Asus next week. No big. But fyi- close the door!!!

LOL "close the door!", I thank you for your amazing review of the W1, i am looking at the W1 Carbon Edition from the UK.

http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l...66&modelmenu=1

I wanted to know what you think of it?? Also i was fortunate to be able to sit beside 2 people with laptops today, both of them have glossy screens. And someone already made a comment about the W1 CE screen being a Mirror cos it sooooo reflective.

But anyhow, i hear Glossy is nice for games and movies in general in properly lit areas.

So i just curious about what you thinkg about the W1 CE and anything i should know about it.

Thanks,

MysticGolem

Quick question, by any chance you a unix user?
I loaded both xp pro and gentoo; however, was wondering if you know where or perhaps can help make one 'with me' for the card readers.

Thanks!
