ok - I did the update from CAT 3.2 to CAT 3.4 (I think - lol). Here is what my driver version says: 6.14.10.6343 Can someone confirm this is the right version? Oh yeah, the version date is: 4/28/2003.

I am pretty sure it is updated. It seems to be working well.

On another note. I run my 8887 at display of 1152 X 864 and I really like that setting. Seems very clear to me and not too small and not too big.

This Radeon driver mobility modification tool worked well for me and gave me an easy installation of the Catalyst 3.4 drivers on my 5670:

Having just a little problem (lol). Um, when I reboot my computer, it must think I am blind because the display keeps comming up at 640 by huge. Someone else was having this problem I think. Anyone know how to fix this? Also, is any one else having this "little" problem? Crap.......

It worked fine until I rebooted.

Went back to the Cat 3.2 drivers and it is working now. I guess I will wait and see how every one else is doing with their update process.

Tried all of that. Still does not work. When I reboot, it goes to 640 by 400. Strange!!!!

why dont you just use those instructions someone posted above. I use them everytime and they work just fine. I cant understand why you would want to mod and tweak and write code when a few clicks will see you through...

sheesh...

and the 640x400 problem - when you restart does windows tell you that your res is very low and does it ask you to click a balloon on the taskbar - DO IT

I had the same problem - clicked the bugger and everything is fine now...

I am still stuck at 640 MODE after finally getting these stupid drivers installed. Anyone wanna buy a 5670? I am very pissed off at this laptop right now. I dont understand why the resolution DOES NOT save. Why the hell would you be able to change it and it not stay. I did the stupid ballon thing and that doesnt do anything. As well when I finally got the 3.2's installed i never had to click on that thing anyway. I seriously am never buying a ATI product ever again.

I am a bit pissed to, but I bet there will be some kind of fix out shortly.

The 5670 users are the ones who are experiencing this, so all I can say is use the 3.2 drivers till a fix comes out

Any 8886 or 8887 owners out there try these 3.4 Cat drivers? I'm not budging on drivers or updates until I need to.

Yes - I have an 8887 with XP Home. Could not get the new drivers to keep my resolution to stay at a good setting. Tried many times. Always changed when I rebooted. Give it a try and see if you can make it work on your 8887.
