Toshiba Lap top LCD woes

The laptop in question has no signs of physical ware (cracks or things of that nature) how ever I can only see about 10 percent bios screen (left hand side) and there are red vertical stipes running down other parts of the other wise black screen. I have been told that the lCD is bad by the service people, however I think that it may possibly be a loose connection since the thing has not been dropped or abused. Has any one seen this before or have a suggestion for trouble shooting. I was a sun admin in my former life so I am not to scared jump in there, but I need more evidence that it may do some good, I woudl just chuck the old vt100 terminal if it flaked out.

If any one has any suggestions or ideas if it is truly a bad lcd please let me know

Thanks

Walt

If you gently flex the lcd does it change the lines/colors on the screen? It does sound like a bad lcd though as I don;t think a loose connection would do that. You can try to replace the screen...maaybe check ebay? have seen lcd's for sale there. or just use it through a monitor if not mobile.

How to get the screen off

I can't even find how to remove the screen on this 2430. The lines seem to be moving with each boot. Does any one know how his thing disassembles (down to the mother board) or where I can find that information ??

lcd

The screens aint that easy to remove.

The moving lines on boot are probably the lcd panel and some times its possible to resolder all the connections, cause your prob sounds like dry solder joints, but its a bitch of a job and usually doesnt work because of the new maufacturing techniques
