Acer Travelmate 4001Wlmi
Now that Acer 2012 Wlmi is discontinued I saw travelmate 4001. It seems almost the same especifications and a design that i like. I just think the unique difference is that this one note have the 4in1 card reader.. is there any other difference? what do you think about this laptop? And dows it run Doom III?

Who told you the 2012 is discontinued, it's still listed on Acer's site and most on the online vendor is still carrying it.

Newegg stopped carrying so naturally the chicken littles of the forums took the leap of logic that it was being discontinued...

i was going to buying it and 1 month later i didnt get my laptop. i phoned my seller and it told me it was discontinued... now I look at the acer 4000 series and i think they're amazing.. but in the stores i just see travelmate 4001 with a 1.5 processor and 64Mb radeon 9700. I went to acer.com and saw that the processor could go as high as 2.0 Dothan.. i want a 1.8 but what to do? The model i see in the stores is just the 4001 with a 1.5. Do i have to wait for other models in the 4000 series? or i can just tell them to put a 1.8 processor on my machine?

I think the 2012 still looks better and thinner. This one is a bit thick.

u got that right.
the 2012 is "one of the" if not "the" cleanest, sexiest notebooks out there. just hold it in your hands to believe it. |

I think the only other laptop I see that look nice (beside the powerbook mac) is the Asus W1. Both extremely nice slick book.
These other ones got pretty ugly design. |

They show the 2012 in stock, but when you ordered they don't have it.
PCCONNECTION.COM showed they are instock. 3 days later cancelled my order because they ran out of stock. WHich is sad. So oh well. I'll wait until Christmas to get me a new laptop then. Maybe something good will come out then. Hopefully the new Acer Ferrari 3200 with a better HD or new W1 version with more RAM on their video card. |

Well, if you have time to wait. What are you doing here ;-). Always wait till the last possible moment when you are buying tech stuff. You'll either get what you want for less or better performance for the same amount.

The 4001 is going to be discontinued here in Portugal (probably in everywhere). The new 4002 will have a 1.6 processor instead of the 1.5 (the rest will be the same). I`ve order one and I`m waiting for it. I hope it rocks!
