533 FSB questions
How useful is the 533FSB in these laptops? With laptops only using PC2100 how much more of an advantage does the FSB have if any? Since they offer 2.1GBps of memory bandwidth wouldn't the 533FSB basically be wasted? Am I missing something here?

It didn't help the memory bandwidth at all. I don't know how much it helped in other areas. If anything, it enabled them to utilize a slightly higher 2.8GHZ clock speed and a new board using USB2.0. The 533 chips are what Intel is focusing on more now so the processor upgradeability is more there. The price didn't really change much at all when they did the switch.

We all know Intel, if they could get away with saying it's a 1GB FSB they would even if it only gave a 2% gain. I don't think it's a waste, but the change from 400 to 533 isn't as huge as it sounds. I heard Intel won't be releasing much more for the 400 FSB, so it's good Sager made the change for we upgrading type folks

I think until faster memory becomes available to laptops this will never be fully utilized. At the same time there are other areas of the laptop that are true bottlenecks that need to somehow be addressed...harddrive speed for instance
