New Ferrari 3400 model released
Look what I found on the net
http://www.itmedia.co.jp/pcupdate/ar...7/news016.html Looks like just a CPU upgrade only to AMD 3000+ I think Release Date is 8th Oct for Japan |

What a disappointment. No RAM or hard drive upgrade. An extra 200+ in the CPU rating isn't going to make much of a diffrence.

Just gonna put a slightly faster chip in when it's available. Not worth the upgrade for us with 3200's. When they put out a LV 3400 I'll upgrade my 3200. Until then, there's no reason. It's nice for first time buyers though.

I'm gonna do the same, wait for a 2.2Ghz cpu, before that I won't upgrade.
I might be interested to know if they changed the cooling system to handle the extra heat the cpu is going to put out. |

That's the old Ferrari 3000 Model, not a 3400. The Ferrari 3000 has the AMD 3000+ chip, but its not mobile. That picture also shows the 3000s mouse. HOAX

Hmm, I know a few people who'd be interested if the battery life can match Pentium M within the range of minutes...

Did the Ferrari 3200 have the Auto Dim feature on the screen or is this new for the 3400?

They really should have waited for the Lancaster 25W max A64 instead... Maybe in Ferrari 3600?

What does this have to do with the Ferrari? Putting in a lancaster would be nice. PCIE would be even nicer for a Ferrari 3600. |

lancaster 25w A64 is a future new low voltage mobile amd athlon, current cpu's found in 3200 and 3400 are the oakville version which uses around a maximum 35w... the 25w lancaster runs using only a maximum of 25w which is comparable to centrino chips if im not wrong... this will further increase the battery life of an A64 system..
the ferrari 3200 and 3400 are readily upgradeable to the lancaster chip which means people like me will be upgrading to the lancaster due to its better speed and power usage.anyway for more info on the lancaster use the search function

I believe the 3400 has a docking feature not evident on the 3200.
And in addition the memory card reader is a 5-in-1 rather than a 4-in-1 as in the 3200. Can I ask, user Ferrari3200: you said "When they put out a LV 3400 I'll upgrade my 3200." - Can I ask what this entails? What parts do you have to buy, and what kind of other tweaks and changes do you need to make to your machine to have it compatible or ready to receive the LV3400? And also, how much faster is an LV3400 likely to be over the current 3200 set-up? Thanks. |
