You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

Thanks ellement. Does anyone know of a possible replacement for the 4750? I probably won't have all the money for my laptop for the next 3 or so months. That's why I'm researching early. I want to get an AMD for cost and energy consumption issues. But that Mobility 9700 is worrying me. Will Sager come out with a next generation AMD machine? Should I wait? Please let me know. Thanks...

Arrow Did you say "light - portable - fast"

Sounds like you can and should wait for the new 3790 coming out this fall.
You have lots of time to research and save up.
"READ ME"
i'd deal with PCTorque for the sale as well... Good luck!

I want to underclock my laptop so that I can make it run max at 1.9 ghz instead of 2.2 ghz, is there a way I can do this?

Sorry, I did not get to this thread sooner, I did not realize it had been brought back to life. As much as I thought I would be gaming (being in college) I have yet to put a newer game on that C&C Generals. Nothing demanding by Doom3 standards. So I cannot answer those questions. I know the 9700 is showing its age and I'm really excited about the succesor the the 4750 with pci-e, whever that comes out (Hint: anyone have a release date). I mainly use the 4750 for Premiere. When our student TV station's Computer died, my lappy was volontered for replacement duty, putting together two complete shows until I got a grant to build a new AMD64 3500 system. (damn those usb and firewire headers are a pain). My idle temps have increased due to dust to around 41-3 degrees celcius, and my max load temps have increased to around 80. Early in the lappy's life I got to the critical 90 degrees while encoding a DVD and working Premiere.
Battery life expect almost 1.5 hours web surfing/ work processing and I was suprised to find out 45 minuts with Premiere. Sitting on the porch and actually seeing the sun while you edit is a refreshing experience. This thing can get lound when not set to use PowerNow! running at 800mhz. I have a targus xl backpack to carry it around along with a DVD burner and external harddrive and books, not that bad with the backpack. The notebook and powerbrick are not too heavy and the notebook is suprisingly thin.
