Laptop security lock

Since I am going to college I am thinking of getting a security lock with a cable for for my new notebook. What are people's opinions of these?

They are not foolproof, but they should be enough to deter anyone from ripping it off.
Theives are lazy... or else they'd be working for the money to buy one. They'll just steal one thats just laying around unsecured.
