HDD replacment?
I will have a HDD replacement on Monday for my 9100 system (80GB 5400rpm hitachi HDD) because my HDD will clicking during idle and it is noisy. the thing i want to ask is if the replacement HDD is a brand new one? or a refurbished one?
I am thinking if it is a refurbished, I wont take it because HDD has a limited lift cycle compared with other devices...also I discoved that under windows system it clicks, but under linux system it just works normal. |

If you have already attempted to upgrade the firmware and lower the acoustic settings, I expect you will be needing a replacement hard drive. Keep in mind that after a successful firmware flash on the Hitachi drive it will reset any previous acoustic settings you made back to their default settings. Hopefully you will have better luck with your replacement HD. I can highly recommend getting the Hitachi 7200rpm. ![]()
