Hey, is it just me, or do we all get the 30 second memory count-up (I have 1Gb) at boot time with the new bios??! I can't seem to find a setting to turn it off. Very annoying!

I've also noticed this - see my post here. I usually hibernate, so the memory check doesn't bother me as much...

I'm actually also noticing that my fan has been on low for a while. I just got in to work this morning - my laptop had been idle all night (I hope!), and the fan was on. It's been on the last half hour now. MobileMeter shows the CPU temperature at between 43-45.

I'll monitor this throughout the day and see what happens.

Dude! MobileMeter!! Thanks for the tip! I've tried a bunch of useless programs to measure cpu temp but none of them worked!! Thanks!
Download MobileMeter for those who want it...
I did the arctic silver thing when I upgraded to a 3.2ghz cpu and it sure would have been nice if I had MobileMeter when I did it.. Right now it shows a temp of 50c with a bunch of adobe, macromedia and ms office software running... High, but not that high me thinks...

About the memory count, I haven't restarted yet after the flash, so let's hope it's going bye bye next time...

Off topic maybe but it concerns the bios as well: I've tried to get my iomega usb floppy to boot, but that seems like a no no. Anybody managed to get any other usb floppy to boot?? (I had to use WinPlash to flash the new bios, and that was some scary seconds)

That only happens the first time you restart your computer after you have flashed the new bios..it does it with every other new bios as well.

Thanks to the folks who sent me the BIOS, as since the upgrade the video playback issue is gone

Thanks Warden for sending the Win98 disk, I keep a Dos 6.1 clean boot disk around for bios updates, so I didn't need it, but wanted to acknowledge anyway.
