Hmm I just noticed something.

Use Intervideo WinDVD and playback a DVD, it looks like it plays well but it seems to play 1 or 2 fps too slowly. Like it's playing at 23 fps instead of 25 fps.

I went into the video settings and disabled "Use Hardware Decode Acceleration".

Sure enough now it played at 25 FPS. Very hard to tell but definitely smoother.

I wonder how we get it to play normally while using Hardware Decode...

Can someone verify this?

EDIT: Some more Info, it only happens after a seek and on some DVD's. Enable Hardware acceleration and play a dvd and it will play normally. But seek back and forth a little, and then continue playing and it seems as if playback fps will drop to 23 fps. Closing and starting the DVD player fixes it.

If you have the Gladiator dvd, check on the pan shot at 1h.11m.40s

Install standard OPENGL and leave fastwrites on.

You'll know what I'm talking about when you install them.

I'm running it now on my D500P. Fixed the video playback problem, and I've noticed a nice improvement in a couple games with the latest Omega drivers.

Now I have to ask...did you use the winphlash utility or do you have a floppy drive? I don't have a floppy and im rather scared to try that windows flashing utility....

I ran this bios using a floppy, but I ran the previous bios using WinPhlash. The only reason I didn't use WinPhlash this time around was simply because I forgot I had it. It's been several months since I last flashed the bios.

Wow, thanks so much for the information. Tonight is the night to upgrade finally

So, are you from Canada as well? Is that why you bought a Eurocom?

Phew, what a weight off the shoulders. I ran wphlash and upgraded the BIOS, installed new drivers and boom! it worked! Awesome. The reason I was so scared about Winphlash was my buddy tried it on his machine and he messed up the BIOS and had to RMA the machine. I think he must have used the wrong BIOS update.

I am from Canada - Calgary, AB. Really, I bought Eurocom because I got a good deal on a slightly used one. Funny, I used to live in Ottawa, about 1 mile from Eurocom's headquarters, but never stopped by.

I've got them online at http://www.cs.westminster.edu/~cdean/mirror/d500p. I'll have them there for about a week or so until I do my fall cleaning.

Question

Just got the BIOS, but I haven't applied it yet.

Can someone confirm that it does not de-swap the keyboard layout. I have the Ctrl key on the far left, and I want it to stay there.

thanks

Confirmed - the key-swap bios is a separate keyboard bios. I also have my keys swapped, and they remained swapped after flashing.

Holy computer

I do not own a sager 5680 per se, but I have a laptop that looks identical, but has a different name "Whitebox CL5".

I was annoyed by the video display "bug" with WinDVD playback, so I checked this forum.

Halleluja!

I do not yet know if any thing is screwed ut, but the playback issue seems to be solved in WinDVD.

I used Winphlash and flashed from windows with "568R10s.wph", and I had no problems what-so-ever in the time right after flashing.

I have to get back to this thread if anything has gone wrong somehow, but right now everything seems OK.

(Will go watch the movie Gods&Generals now)

Edit: A few days later, I have had no issues that I am aware of after flashing the bios.

Edit2: Ok, a while later it is fair to suspect that I have one issue. My boot-up often result in a blue screen of death, with varying errors. Not a critical I guess, but somewhat annoying.

Edit3: Ok, the blue screen of death is gone, and I dont know why.
