j4ever, does the crackling/popping stuff happen only after your rig has gone into standby or hibernation? Mine does that from time to time. If so, try disconnecting the ZSN and then plugging it back in. It's helped me.

And your ENE Cardbus drivers. I have older ones dated 8/14/2002 in Device Manager. I pulled them off Sager's website. Where did you get your newer ones?

I am having the same problems on my eMachines 6805 with ENE CB1410 cardbus controller. It's a pain in the ass. I emailed Creative yesterday about it, no response yet. I imagine they are getting quite a few tech support requests.

I did some reading about cardbus. Apparently the Windows driver isn't exactly the best. But, nobody really uses PCMCIA cards these days. It's not a big thing. But, now that we have a serious PC Card, we are seeing the problems from lack of development on that front.

I really hope Creative gets it worked out. I REALLY want this card to work well!

BTW, anyone have luck with the EchoEnEUtil ? I didn't see any change whatsoever.

Me neither swaaye. It seems to just be a fix for the ol' echo cards.

And from what I understand, the ENE drivers should work okay as long as you don't put your machine into standby/suspend. Hibernation seems fine as far as I can tell.

*sigh*

my computer is never in stanby or hibernation.....i have that disabled. im gonna try the 8/12 drivers. my drivers r the same as yours i think. maybe u r not looking in the correct place for your drivers date. if u go to your device manager and click on your ene cardbus and look at the drivers date it should be 10/28/2003 like mine. the ones on sagers site r the ones that i used and that is what they r dated.

Whadaya know. My rig is the 4380, so the link on Sager's site takes me to this file:

http://www.sagernotebook.com/ftp/pcm...mcia_D4XEV.exe

However, j4ever, I believe in another thread you mentioned you have the 4750? The link for that machine's ENE controller points to this file:

http://www.sagernotebook.com/ftp/pcmcia/PCMCIA_D4XK.exe

Interesting...

I love my Echo Indigo cards (I bought 2 of them) really good sound quality through my in-ear monitors and as mentioned, the analog volume control is smoooooth. I'm not gonna complain about $100 for a very good PCMCIA soundcard when my phones cost between $350 and $600 a piece.

nope...the older drivers 8/12/04 did not do a thing. u guys should go ahead and update ur drivers and see if it does anything...i doubt it will. i think i have a bad card. its odd because when i test the card it with diagnostics and calibrate the speakers it sounds wonderful, and then everything else is terrible. im gonna exchange it and try another 1. if it doesnt work then i will reinstall my windows in hopes that the problem has something to do with software that i can't figure out.

One question:

How does the audigy coexist with the onboard audio system. Is it easy to switch back and forth.

I have an app that requires an audio card and won't work with the 9860's onboard audio. BUT I would like to use onboard audio in certain instances.

thanx

hey guys. I thought I would just write a quick review on the new creative pcmcia card. I received it yesterday from newegg and I hooked it up immediately. It was easy to install, and I compared it with some friends the sound quality difference. Believe me, there is a difference. One of my favorite song has alot of hissing in it and the creative sound card definitely eliminated that. But was it worth $130? No, because I just returned it, I have logitech z-2200's (2.1) and an acer travelmate 8002, and the speakers are kick-ass and the sound card made just a little difference. It was definitely louder and you have so many options with the equalizer and the other stuff (EAX). So I would recommend that anyone wanting to buy this should wait until the price dips to about $80, cause it really is a great product, but the price should go down, which it will pretty soon, and buy it.
