Wireless notebook adapter

i'm thinking about gettin the 802.11G wireless adapter along with my sager 5670, but since i am not a familiar device i am wondering how difficult it would be to set up. also, how do i find out if it is compatible to my cable modem at home (road runner)
and if possible, what are the general steps i have to take to install the wireless adapter. Thanks in advance!!

waitin for my new sager can kiss my

You cannot connect directly from a wireless card to a cable modem. You will need to get a wireless ROUTER/AP (Access Point). The Linksys 54G model that PC Torque (and others) sell is what you need.

Then you will plug your modem into this router (instead of your desktop) and then plug the desktop & other ethernet devices into the router. The wireless part will be setup via the provided instructions. It can be pretty easy, but like all things computer-related, there could be hours of headaches.

I suggest checking out PracticallyNetworked if you have a few hours (days) to read up on all the home wireless/cablemodem stuff they have there.

Good luck,

Wireless isn't difficult to set up at all. I have a Linksys wrt54g and corresponding pc card. The whole installation took about 5 minutes max and that's including boot up time and using the restroom. Seriously all you have to do is plug the devices insert software and that's it.
