The Dhmod tool 2.0b from driverheaven.net does not work with the 4.10 drivers. I tried many times and could not get the driver installed so I went back to 4.9. Am I the only one with this problem or does the Dhmod tool not work with the 4.10 drivers?

Quoted from rage3d.com:

"For those of you waiting on the new Catalyst 4.10 drivers from ATI, the good news is that they will be released later today and will include the new Catalyst A.I feature. The bad news is that they won't be newer than the 8.07 betas released a couple of weeks ago and won't feature the 256MB bug-fix."

Um, yes, this was pointless. X0D They should have just released another hotfix.

There is a way to mod the 4.10 drivers with the Dhmod tool. Go to http://www.driverheaven.net/showthre...325#post467325 to learn how to get it to work.

When i try to install the new drivers, it says that it cannot detect the necessary hardware. I have a Mobile Radeon 9800. Any help would be appreciated.

To mod the Catalyst 4.10 driver files, you must:

-Run the 4.10 driver setup
-After it says it cannot install driver (and before you mod the file with the Dhmod tool), search for the file " CX_18115.inf " in C:\ati\support\blablabl\dirver\2KXP_INF and open it
-There is a section called "ATI.MFG.ntx86", delete the ".ntx86" so that you get "ATI.MFG"
-Save the file then start the modtool
-The 4.10 drivers should now install correctly

This is a quick way to fix the modding problem with the 4.10 drivers and it should work if you do it correctly.

I opened and altered the CX_18115.inf file found here <C:\ATI\SUPPORT\wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-062-040929a-018115C\Driver\2KXP_INF> with the following information and it worked!

Original:

[Manufacturer]
%ATI% = ATI.Mfg, NTx86

[ATI.Mfg.NTx86]

Altered:

[Manufacturer]
%ATI% = ATI.Mfg

[ATI.Mfg]

One thing to add, though - I found this would only work if you first cleared the C:\ATI folder. Apparently if you have another modded driver in there it can interfere (mentioned in the same thread on Driver Heaven).

So kill the ATI folder, THEN do the procedure, and you should be gold.
