erisalit32, I am happy that my info helped you. Its very nice to know that I could give back to the forum that helped me decide on purchasing my first notebook computer...the awesome 3790v! (hmm the name just doesn't have the "wow factor" I was looking for...) no matter...its still a great computer!
![]() ps I have the new card reader drivers installed. But haven't been able to get my hands on a 512mb or 1gig SD card yet. ![]()

Wireless connection issues
Skim, you say your connection is irregular; could you describe what happens, please? Do you lose connection between your AP? Because I'm having speed issues with the latest drivers; the connection speed goes up and down all the time, and there's just a wall between the laptop and the AP/Router (WRT54G). The same thing happens even if I have the AP/route next to the laptop, without any wall.
I have solved this problem using a "mix" of drivers; but that it's not the solution; that's why I'm asking you to describe the problem. |

By irregular I mean the connection going from Excellent:54mps-11mps to Good:1-11mps to low:1mps and then disconnects and reconnects. I tried reseting the router but it still does it. So I unintalled the v9 driver and reinstalled the v8 driver and the connection is better.
ED: The connection with the v8 driver is not perfect (sometimes it goes to Very GOod:1mps), but transfers data well. Unlike the v9 driver, the connection doesn't disconnect on its own. Also CS no longer crashes due to a "Net_sendpacket error: wsaeintr" Last edited by SKim; 01-29-2005 at 05:29 PM. |

I have been having wireless speed problems also . I have a linksys wrt54 g wireless router running hyperwart bios . My speeds also go from 1 mb to 11 to 24 to 54 and then disconect [not necessarily in that order] Im running ver 9.o wireless drvs [updated from ver8 ] but still have this crazy connection speed variation. I also updated my sager 3790 bios thinking it may help but im still having the same problem ohhh and the router bios flash was an attempt to fix this problem too. On the upside i dont have any dvd playback issues no chop no lag....even with the old bios the playback was perfect. So im out of ideas . I love the 3790 but the wireless speed problem is driving me nuts anyone have any ideas what i could try next?

hmmm... you might try checking the antenna leads on the mini-pci card. to do this, remove the hard drive access panel and you should be able to see the internal wireless card. check the leads and make sure they are on tight. perhaps they aren't connected properly? it's worth a shot. this fix has helped others with their wireless problems, especially those having a weak range, before so it may help you. hope it helps. let me know.

Wireless driver "solution" (For Intel Mini-PCI 2200BG)
This is what I have done, and why I have done; and... it works very well
![]() I have a WRT54G as my AP/Router for my wireless connection (I have two, and I have tested everything with both units, because I thought that it could the AP/Router, but it wasn't). I have made a fresh install (Windows XP Prof SP2 + drivers + latest updates) per each driver install (yep, I have made a lot of installations, but I have a Ghost image, so it hasn't took me too much time )Int his LINK you have all drivers from Intel, there are, three different versions. If you install Intel ProSet 8.0.0 (driver ver. 8.0.12.20000); you won't have any problem but the computer might show a "lovely" blue screen saying something about "IRQ_DRIVER_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and you have to restart the laptop; in my laptop, this thing happens when I have running Azureus (which needs Java), and some other programs; but I know that Azureus sooner or later will make the computer crash. This problem has been solved in Intel ProSet 8.1.1.0 (driver ver. 8.1.0.28); and of course Intel ProSet 9.0.1.0; so I installed both versions; and... with 8.1.1.0 the wireless connection went up and down all the time... so I tried 9.0.1.0 and the connection worked better but it wasn't as good as it should be and I got some disconnections after a few hours. So I tried installing just the drivers, no ProSet (so I used Windows Zero Tool for Wireless Management); and same results. To be able to explain next part (and solution), I'll give driver's version a number: 8.0.12.20000 - #1 8.1.0.28 - #2 9.0.1.9 -#3 So... I tried something (and here goes the solution), if #1 had problems and #2 too, why not mix them? So, I installed #1 with Windows Hardware assitant, after that I disabled wireless card (because if you don't do it, windows will say that you cannot overwrite a driver which is being used) and overwrited these files: \WINDOWS\system32\W22NCPA.DLL \WINDOWS\system32\drivers\w22n51.sys with the ones which are in #2. I nabled the wireless card and... everything worked fine: 54 Mbps all the time, no disconnections. The disadvantages are: - You won't have Intel ProSet utilities (I don't care because they are not useful, Windows Zero Tool does the same thing) - Windows says drivers are not certified if you check wireless' properties (Again... I don't care, it works so I'm happy) - Maybe the wireless card is being forced but... if file: \WINDOWS\system32\W22MLRES.DLL is the one which makes the difference between working or not (and it does, because I have tried, the same thing with drivers #3 and it doesn't work), I don't care; the wireless card doesn't overheat. You are free to try this, but remember... it does work for me, maybe it doesn't work for you; if you try, please tell us your experience ![]() Last edited by MrAnonym; 05-02-2005 at 06:45 PM. Who makes the BT module in the NP3790? I just got my brand-new phone and love it.. it's a Siemens S65, and it's the first phone to come with support for the (to my knowledge) latest BT support of version 1.2. Will my integrated BT on the NP3790 work with that new standard?
I need the drivers for the BT module. Last edited by MoeRL; 02-02-2005 at 05:32 PM. |

I had been suffering frequent loss of connection with the supplied 8.0 Wireless drivers. I tried the 8.1.0 drivers and software and that was worse. My connection was horrible and couldn't get pages to load. I have now tried the 9.0.1 drivers and software and it seems to work better. At least I am connecting and pages are loading correctly, just as when I use a "wired" connection. I will post back in a few days with my results.
This has been a very useful thread and I give kudos to the posters above. Thanks!

wireless power saving feature / reputation points work great as kudos
Hello WitchDoctor,
I know its been mentioned before but maybe this will help you. I also have the new v9 drivers and I was still suffering connection loss (but not as bad as before). What fixed things for me was to change the wireless adapter settings to always on. The wireless adapter has a "timeout" feature that when enabled gave me connection loss. The connection was "there" but not active. Now with that "timeout" or "power saving" feature disabled, my connection rarely drops out. Of course, battery time is shortened when you do this. I'm not at my laptop so that's why these instructions are vague. also, take some time to pass out reputation points as well, there even better than KUDOS...thanks! ![]()

Huh, that is some great info. I must have missed that earlier in the thread. I will check it out when I get back on my laptop.
Thanks for the info... and the suggestion.
