Is it safe to install that on a working WinXP Pro SP2 system? Any benefits?

Talking Thank you TMGP

I also want to add my thanks for keeping with this thread. This laptop has to last me 3 years or more and it wouldn't be possible without regular updates. You make that part easy!

I've tried to download the latest BIOS, but the file appears to be corrupt. Is there another source?

Thanks,
Jake

Just want to let you guys know i'm still getting a lot of use out of this thread. I rarely visit the forums anymore, as there are rarely 3790-relevant posts anymore. I guess once we all got our babies running smoothly and worked out any issues we may have had, there was no more need to visit the forums. Plus, I for one haven't wanted to hear people drooling over the new models that they've ordered...I want to pretend that my 3790 is still cutting-edge and top of the line, at least until i'm ready to shell out for a new one...

I'm still loving mine, and everything's running great - save for the fact that my fan has gotten louder. I opened it up and checked for lint, but couldn't find anything visibly wrong with it. I'm considering doing a reinstall of my OS at the end of this semester, only because I've learned a lot about maintaining a computer and keeping everything running as efficiently as possible and I'd like to start over from scratch. Plus, I figure a yearly reinstall can't really hurt. When I do go for it, I'll definitely come looking here to make sure everything is as up-to-date as possible.

Thanks, everyone, for your contributions!

Here are the instructions that I got from the Sager Tech Support:

*******
Hi Dan, the last release of the BIOS file is attached.

Please download the attached file 379bv207s2.zip.
Unzip the file to your hard drive.

The file 379bv207s2.iso is the image of a bootable disk with all the files
for updating the system BIOS.

Burn the 379bv207s2.iso to a CDR or CDRW disc.

Use the disc to boot the computer to flash the system BIOS.

After the system bios flashed, please load the default settings in the CMOS
setup.

If you do not know how to burn an image file to CDR disc, please let me
know.

Ok.. that helps a lot, actually, but now, where do I get that *.iso from? The download link from the first page in this thread links to something else. I have a *.bin file, but don't know if that's supposed to be the bootable image. If it is, where's the *.cue file that has to go with it? I mean, I can create a *.cue file to suit the *.bin, that's not the problem.. the question is.. is that what the *.bin file is? The bootable image? Because I don't have a 379b207s2.iso!

Thanks

If you want, PM me your email address and I'll forward you that email. I'm using the 2.07s2 BIOS ... I'm not using the 2.08 BIOS that was listed here.
