Service Pack 2 issues

Anyone else noticed that when you install service pack 2 u get lock ups during game play? I am playing EQ2 Beta at the moment so I installed it and tried to play it and it locked up randomly but always shortly after launch. i uninstalled XP2 and tried it and it runs fine.. laggy but doesnt lock up. So i decided well maybe that install was corrupt or something so i reinstalled xp2 and same thing. Course now my registry is prolly FUBAR but after uninstalling it it worked fine. Any ideas? Maybe a resource issue with my ram being so low?

it has also happened in original EQ. I have tried adding the game to the firewall and anything else i could think of still to no avail always locks up with SP2 installed.

I've had Rome: Total war lock up on me twice, but I just attributed it to the game itself.

Maybe not now

No problems with any of my games here with SP2 on any of my machines .. I don't play EverCrack so I can't comment on that game.

Same here SP2 and no lockups.....running all these apps and games pshop, illust, word, access, dreamweaver, 3ds max, Doom3, CS:Source.

Try running a registry clean up program like Norton WinDoctor (or one of the probably better and free ones around) and reinstall directX 9c

No problems with lockups on my 9100. Though I did slipstream install XP Pro with SP2, instead of patching up to it. I have a single DVD with all the XP patches integrated, and also all the 9100 drivers on it.

Mine's a fresh install on a brand new XPS. My guess is some games and/or programs aren't playing well with sp2 in some way. (Rome: Total War is the only lockup I've seen)
