in the xps configuring components page, there was a note next to the mr9800 saying "this option might delay your shipping day". It was there for more than two weeks. But when I check that page again tonight, that note is gone.....i think our mr9800s will come real soon.

So how did you managed to get the installaion cancelled and get the refund?

Dude, you're killing me! There are two or three wonderful threads discussing the issue of installing the 9800 card and receiving refunds on the tech service. You've already received as much info as you need on your own thread What's the deal with the MR9800?, where you questioned whether I had actually installed the card before calling Dell for a refund on the installation service! Maybe you should ask one of the moderators to help you set up a poll looking for the most popular way to receive a refund on the tech service of your 9800 card! You can poll on five choices:

- Called Dell and asked for customer service
- Chatted online with Dell customer service
- Wrote a letter to Dell customer service
- Sent a prayer to God for help with Dell customer service
or
- Drove directly to Dell customer Service and Napalmed them!

Just keep your three year warranty intact and let one of the tech dudes do it for you. I recommend at least reading your manual on the installation procedure so you can keep one eye on your Pepsi and one eye on the tech!

Good luck!

Bah

I ordered mine on 8th Nov, and it has been "In Production" since then.

I don't want to play Halflife and NFS Underground 2 till I get my new card and the wait's killing me

Ordered 11/03, it's now 20 days later and my MR9800 is still "IN PRODUCTION". This is taking way too long.

Yeah, I'm exactly like you man. I've been holding off getting HL 2 till I get my card to.

Ordered mine on the 5th, ship prep is Dec. 8th. ARGH ...wait's killing me.

Oh well, at least I can catch up on homework.

I cancelled it after I installed it. I figured, if I flubbed up, I could piece it back together with the 9700 and let the tech have a go at it as a back up. The key is to make sure the dust free bag it comes in is in mint condition and the tape fold that holds the bag down to itself is in near mint condition as well

Sounds like a call to Dell for some complainin' action to me! Geez, that borders on inexplicable!

I promise, you will enjoy it when you get it!

I called last week and was told it hasn't reached December 6th (estimated ship date) so there was nothing they could do. I'm guessing they are waiting for a shipment of MR9800s to arrive but the dummies on the phone know nothing.

I ordered my inspiron xps with the 9800 on thursday 25 Nov. And its in Production status. It is on phase II (Build). The sales rep says it takes 8-11 business days.

Will it take longer than 8-11 b. days, seeing how long its taking you guys get the 9800 ?

I have Vampires the masquerdae Bloodlines, Half life 2 and Battle for Middle Earth (Dec 6) lined up to play on my baby.
NFSU2 is keeping me busy till then.

Really, if Dell wanted to do us a favor, they would cut us in on some of the sales profits for these cards! I know this forum has a limited number of members actually using these cards, but I'd like to see the hit count on the website stats counter showing how many outsiders are checking this forum for purchase confidence and product reliability with 9800!

Dammit, namit! Don't cancel yet! You want this card! You need this card! Good things come to all who are patient!

I want my MR9800! I ordered back on 11/03 and still in pre-production. For something so damn expensive, it sure is taking a while.
