How to Post a Picture: In Here

Quote:
A little off topic but is it possible someone (wisefish?) could make a short tutorial on how to post pictures in a post. Maybe start it as a thread and it could become a sticky...just a thought.
It has been asked of me to make a brief tutorial explaining how to host, and post a picture, so here you are. I use geocities or angel fire just because thats how I was taught to do it. I'm sure there are some easier services though. So, the first thing you have to do is upload the picture on to the internet. You can't just have it on you hard drive. You can use any number of free picture hosting services. Here is a google search for "free picture hosting":
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...+image+hosting
Once you upload the picture on to the internet you can post it on the forums.

Use the highlighted IMG button in the above picture and paste the url of your picture, remembering "http://", into the box that comes up once you click it. I think thats about it. Pretty easy.

3-9-04 EDIT:
Well this thread is a little dated being that the forum was upgraded a while ago. Now we can just attach files which is nice.

Great lil post... let's see if we can either Sticky it or roll it into a FAQ. There is a bit of some instruction regarding VB codes, but yours is clearer.

I reccomend using www.villagephotos.com for a free image host. You can directly link it in the page; none of the protection by the server to prevent you from directly linking the image.

That means I can just ... post any picture I want and directly link it. Like this.

Figuring it out isn't too hard, but make sure you use the "Copy URL to clipboard" feature as the URL that you're going to use.

Most isps will give you webspace. In my case, I have 10mb of space, which, while it isn't a ridiculous amount of space, it'll store PLENTY of pictures. Figure out if your isp offers this, get an ftp client and an html editor and you could put them up on a website relatively easily.

looks like you guys are noobs to image hosting....as i see most of the images on this forum are broken links.
www.imageshack.us is the best image host you can use, even uses thumbnails and other options like vb code.

Thumbs up Noobs helping noobs post pics

Solo0071, are you seeing the page that has the links listed after you upload? If not, then the upload itself is getting interupted possibly. I just tested it.
Here is a dancing Calvin gif image:

An Example of the page I am talking about looks like this:

Maybe your upload is timing out, or the image you are trying to host is too large... Or you are doing everything right and its "the Man" interfering once again. '
