Any known issues to install windows 2003 server in 600m?

i just wonder if anyone has encounted any problems of installing windows 2003 server in 600m? i plan to install the win2003 once i get more rams (....$$$). even thought i have my system image on CD, i do not want to waste time to reload the image again, and install other misc programs if i fail to install win 2003 server.

thanks in advance.

As long as Windows 2003 recognizes the 600m as having a ACPI compliant BIOS, it should install just fine. Came to find out that it wouldn't install on the 700m as detailed in the thread linked above. So far the 700m is the first computer I have run across that didn't play well with this OS.

somms: i was told you installed nec 6500a in 600m without any modification of the "door". how do i know if the 2003 would recongize the 600m as having a ACPI compliant BIOS?

thanks in advance

Did you read the link I posted? The install would seize at 34min left.

BTW: I never installed the ND-6500A into a 600m. I wonder who would tell you such a thing?

i had read the post before. after you replied, it makes me thinking there might have no way to know if the win2k3 would work in 600m unless i try it

then i will order more rams in Dec / Jan and start trying the win2k3

sorry for the confusion. someone mentioned you have the 6500a in your laptop, and i took it as you have 6500a in your laptop (600m)!

my bad.

Hi,
I have the same problem with you when setup the Windows 2003 Server in Dell 700m.

My laptop is: Dell 700M, 1024MB RAM, Centrino 1.8G

You can try the following way:
- Put your Windows CD in the tray and start the installation
- When seeing the line 'press F6.....' in the bottom of the screen, you press F7 and keep pressing bypass the 'press F2...'. Stop pressing untill you hear the beep tone. (You do that to bypass the ACPI HAL)
- Then, the installation will continue and follow the rest.
