The unofficial buying guide: receiving the maximum discount on dells! Valid >> 12/24

I have got many, many PMs about this issue since it sounds like I am one of the few that know about this. So I wanted to share this with all of you.

If you would like, mods, you can sticky this until December, 24, 2004. Then you can un-sticky it after that.

Ok, let’s begin:

[1] Ok, first, you have to be a member of the EPP/EDU section of the site (http://www.dell.com/eppbuy). Now I don’t know how to become a member because my dad gets the discount from work – and most of the time it’s through your job. So if you are not a member, don’t worry about this – it isn’t for you.

NOTE: If you don't have this discount, or you are not a member of the EPP section of the site, ask a friend if you can borrow their account to purchase your dell. Most of you have a friend that has access to this account and hopefully you can get the discount.

[2]
Once you are a member, they will give you a code you use to sign in. Once you have that code, go here: http://www.dell.com/eppbuy, and use your code.

[3] Once you have you are signed in, click on the banner ad for the dellf game. Sign up and play the game. What you are looking for is a 20% off coupon for the dell epp section of the site – keep playing until you get a 20% off inspiron coupon.

NOTE (1): MAKE SURE YOU SIGN IN TO YOUR ACCOUNT BEFORE PLAYING THE GAME. Do NOT play the dell home dellf game.

NOTE: (2): If any of you need a coupon, you can pm me. Although I just gave my last few away, I will have some more very soon. (I just gave my last one to thor79—thanks dude for the nice comment in the sig)

NOTE: (3) You can only play the dellf game once every 24 hours. If you want more chances to play, refer 4 people to the dellf game and win more chances to play (instructions are on the dellf site after you play once).

[4] Know that you have the 20% off coupon, you need a $200 off instant coupon. Go here and give them your email address and they will give you the coupon:

http://www.dell.com/epp/earlycoupon/

NOTE: USE INTERNET EXPLORE when you click this link! It's the only browser that supports that one page. Mozilla Firefox will not work.

NOTE (2): This is one of the very few coupons that can be stacked with other coupons.

NOTE: (3): These coupons are good through 12/23/04.

[5] Now you have the coupons you need. So now you need to go and buy it! Sign in to your account, go under notebooks, and choose the one you want, and then configure. Once you hit “configure” they will ask you to choose your warrantee type. Choose the middle one for the best discount.

NOTE: The best warrantee plan is fine, it just cost too much and you don’t get any better discount. So use the middle warrantee plan. ALSO, if you want complete care, you have to add it on the second page on the configuration.

======================================================

So with all these coupons and discounts, you get a great priced notebook. Here is an example (this is what I am looking to buy):

Addition to your post -

For those who is federal government civilian employees, You don't need code to get into EPP. Just click the link under the box. That's what I did. Because at time of purchase, they check your agency and check if you belong to the agency. Save you headache.

Very nice, informative post, TechMen! Although I can't profit from it because I live in Canada and I already bought my system.

I have to say for your young age you express yourself very well and put some older member to shame.

Thanks for the kind comment.

Yea, I'm only 13, you have that right. I'm out of school today, btw.

I have tons for desktops (25% off) and TONS for some palms, too. But the question is, why isn't dell giving us those 20% off inspiron coupons?

Well, I don't know because I haven’t got any in this past week, either. They may have stopped doing that because they are getting ripped off.

what's the minimum purchases prices the coupons? if it's 1,500, this deal is pretty hot. if you take the 3 year warranty out along with the 1.8 (to 1.6) cpu, it'll bring the price down to 1,100 for a fully loaded 17" dell notebook...

Correct, but if you take the warrantee out, you loose 12% discount. And, it's almost impossible to do that in the epp section.

The minimum purchase for the $200 instant coupon is $1800, BUT, that site that you go to get the discount has coupons for cheaper notebooks as well.

($50 OFF INSTANTLY1 on any computer system of $800 - $1300 ------- $100 OFF INSTANTLY1 on any computer system of $1300 - $1800)

As far as the 20% off goes… it ranges. I have seen them at $1000 and have seen them at $1790.

Both myself and a co-worker are getting about 1900 off on our systems. I got the 20% off on Inspiron coupon from TheTechMen and I got the 20% off on Dimensions myself and gave it to my coworker. We're both building systems that are just over $3k...and both of our systems will end up costing just over $1300
