You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

Ex7 benchmarks

Ok. Here're the system specs:
Pentium 4 3.6gz
1Gig memory
915p +ICH6 LGA-775 mobo
256 mb nvidia go
60/ 7200 rpm drive
wireless g turbo
8x dvd dual layer
windows xp home

Benchmarks (everything at stock seting):
3dmark 03
1024x768
score: 7301

3dmark 05
1024x768
score: 2581

Aquamark3
Score: 44086
Graphics: 5748
CPU: 9555

Halflife 2 stress test:
80 fps

The wsxga screen is amazing. Pretty, but sometimes too reflective if there's light source from behind. I would never imagine getting wuxga as evertyhing is rather small already.

Looks: this Ex7 (9860) is very well build, aesthically pleasing, and better looking than 8790. However, it's thick, and heavy. Probably the biggest laptop out there. My laptop will probably stay home most of the time. I also like the touchpad. Nice looking, but I rarely use it. The power brick is the size of a book (no, really).

Noise: barely noticable. No burst of fans that I notice of. The fan is always humming and it never bothers me so far. I can tell for sure that the fan is much quieter than 8790.

Sound: I think this time Clevo has hit the jackpot. Although not quite as good as my old Toshiba s705, nevertheless, it doesn't sound like tin can. And if you tweak it a little bit, it's acceptable as an ocassional stereo system. The bass is hardly noticable though. It's more of a novelty.

Other notables: the USB ports seems to be upside down. I wish they would split these into a pair left side and right side of the laptop. The card reader works perfectly with my sony memory stick. The bison camera is as good as it gets for a pin hole cam. It works well under bright surroundings and not so good under darker areas.
Battery is screwed on to the chasis. But this time, you can unscrew it using side of a quarter coin. I still prefer latch on battery for hot swapping.

So far, I am very pleased with this laptop. Baring any problems (knock on wood), this laptop is a keeper. 2 thumbs up for Clevo for designing such a great laptop!!! I will post more pics and update as I go.

PCpitstop.com comparison reports:

Results from similar systems
The table below shows average scores for systems with similar clock speed to yours. The first row represents the current score for this system. Note that AMD and Intel systems often perform very differently at the same clock frequency; AMD uses a "processor rating" for many of their CPUs rather than the actual clock MHz.

Type Clock
MHz # PCs
Tested
CPUScore MemryScore DiskScore
Intel Pentium 4 3600 (yours) 5242 8583 30
Intel Pentium 4 3600 497 5610 8750 64
Intel Pentium 4 3667 48 5850 8987 63

Best video results for similar PCs
This table shows the best average scores we have recorded for a particular video board and driver for systems with a CPU and MHz similar to yours. The first row represents the current score for this system. Remember that PC Pitstop's test measures 2D performance; the speed of a particular board on 3D applications such as games may be very different. Also, video performance and system reliability can vary greatly as a function of the drivers that are being used. A driver that provides the highest score may not provide the best image quality and/or system stability.

it's on the main menu. Usually after a round of CS:S, press esc, and there'll be a bunch of menus. One of them is the stress test.
