Display problem

My Toshiba 320cdt (I know, it;s old...) worked fine till a few weeks ago. The LCD was displaying weird colors and structures and eventually colored black. This problem repeats nowadays every time I switch on the machine. So first the screen functions fine for about 15 seconds and than it switches off.
When a normal CRT monitor is attached to the laptop, the video-output is fine and stays OK.

Does this problem sounds familiar to one of you?

Yes, I have a 445 CDX purchased in 97 with the same problem.
I am thinking it is a hardware problem on system board with
video hardware.
I found a source for parts at impactcomputers.com.
It might be too expensive to fix for an old computer.

Let me know if this helps or you have info that could
help me.
