They're using silver wrap on the wires? Maybe the flicker is due to some sort of cross talk between the wiring and the wrap...

I think the silver wrap is meant as sheilding, there is a rubber/plastic insulator beneath it. I'm begining to think it is a series of problems, pinched wires, and maybe overheating inverter...

all I know is, if it take the plastic plate with the power button off, I rarely get screen flicker.
maybe it's a heat issue?

also how much would it be to have the screen fixed? I voided my warranty by installing the ram inside
![]() I'm hoping we can find a fix ourselves tho.

I have tape over the wires and it is still flickering intermediately. Maybe it's heat and then again maybe it is the LCD connector?
Let me say this. The only time mine flickers is when the LCD moves just a little or a lot. So it has to do with the wires/onnections. It is just a matter of finding out where.

First off, all you have to do is take the ramout for the RMA Process and make sure anything you modded is back to factory. Then clean any fingerprints out. They will not know the difference.
Secondly, the left wire that routs near the heatsink is the inverter wire, and quite frankly that is the only wire that could cause those symptoms. The ones on the right are the antenna and the wires that display the screen in terms of what pixels light. At this point I am confused.

I'm feeling temtped to drill vent holes in my screen housing, just to test it out (But I won't) I have to believe it is heat related since mine doesn't flicker unless it's been on for a few minutes. I just can't explain then why no one gets flicker with the quick launch panel off...

Mine has behaved lately- it still flickers on occasion.
I've reduced the flicker by keeping the brightness at least one notch down from the highest. I've also noticed that HD activity is the biggest culprit to initiate my flicker. When I sent out my machine last (before the mobo was replaced), the flicker would start the second it booted. It didn't mater if it was hot or not. It did always get worse when i played BF though.

does the screen flicker only occur to those of us who have opened our laptops? I, for one, have

Ok. I read a bunch of stuff on LCD displays. The main culprit of a flickering display is:
A) Bad connection at FL Inverter...or B) Bad FL Invertor. That is the only possibility. It doesn't have to do with the LVD connector for the LCD on the right. It's either the connector on the left or the inverter inside below the LCD/behind the panel. Since they replaced the LCD and not the inverter I am starting to think it's a bad inverter or bad connection at the invertor that is causing our problems.

I FOUND THE CULPRIT!!!!!!! I THINK?????
Ok here is my scenario. My 6811 was flawless before I sent it in for the hinges. During the the repair they had the entire bezel apart and then back together. They also removed the inverter and reinstalled it into the new lid. So here is what I did. I removed the wiring harness and inverter and noticed there is a bi-metal "brass" ground spring, I used a pair of needle nose and bent it out so it touched the grounding tape better. The inverter definatly fit more harsh so I think this did the trick. I also took each wire in the connector and used a tiny screw driver and manually forced each wire into the pin better than the connector can. So far no flicker. And I agree with mobile_hackbox 150% that the problem is on the left side wire, or the inverter itself. Nothing to do with the LVD connector. Arima thinks so because I noticed gobs of tape over it. I BEG YOU, PLEASE TRY THIS AND SEE IF I AM RIGHT. I HOPE SO, BECAUSE THIS IS SO F*%#ING ANNOYING I LITERALLY WANT TO THROW IT THRU A WINDOW. ![]()

As far as the spring goes...try to move the board and spring with the cover off and see if you can reproduce the problem manually.

That is how I found the problem. The board will not flicker completely out, but when it is in there it was flickering with any slight movement. Now I really bent it good so now it is very tight, and I am flicker free as of now. I will let you know if it reoccurs.
