Don't supposed anyone has ever tried to apply Artic Silver to the graphic chip on a 4780. I've had issues with my machine for about 6 months. Every so often it will not play games because of all the blockiness and tearing. If I let the machine rest for a couple days it works for a while. And its been a bit better since I bought a laptop cooler.
The sad thing is that I RMAed this thing and because, I suspect, my warranty was almost up, they did some token work and sent it back, because my problems are unchanged. So, I was hoping to add cooling to the graphic card if possible. Does anyone know how I would go about this. I've found tutorials for the processor but not for the graphics card for my 4780. Any help would be appreciated. -- Aaron |

I added this folling the instructions posted on this forum a while back. It helps a little, but not that much. I have no issues unless i overclock way too high which fries my graphics card until i reboot. That has only happend twice since i got my laptop december 2003 though. I've had a few BSOD's but nothing debilitating. I've had one rma after my system wouldnt boot (this was after opening my machine up). I think i touched it once after that to apply arctic silver but i dont open it up anymore because i dont want to fry my computer again. It's out of warranty.
As far as cooling the graphics card goes, try to under clock it a little first with radlinker and if you find out how to pull the keyboard off in the forums (i think its on here somewhere), you may want to try putting a little AS on the card (underneath the w key) and make sure that it is in contact with the metal plate under the keyboard. THis may distribute its heat better. Make sure you know what you are doing first. Get more advice on these forums.
