You are browsing within the review sections of our forums. Content within these sections reflect consumer opinions of laptops. Our admins take the best and most objective laptop reviews and index them here to create a distinct selection of quality reviews with averaged overall ratings. Many of these reviews have benchmarks attached to them which allows for users to compare their laptop's performance with others, and ultimately enables us to provide a sortable list which at a glance show the fastest laptops amongst a variety of applications (gaming, video editing, web browsing, etc...). Help us build a better laptop database by submitting your laptop review.

9200 wuxga vs 8600 wuxga

as you might guess, yup, they both have that sparkle. so now that you know that, we can move on. i will note that the 8600 is probably going back and the 9200, well.. the screen surely wont be the same for long.

the 8600 wuxga appears to have richer colors. where i would not see a particular depth or hue on the 9200, the 8600 had all the tones present. there is just more color and that makes the pictures look more "alive". the 9200 can be explained as sort-of faded compared to the 8600.

one thing, however, the 8600 is only 15.4 inch compared to 17(or 17.2 reported by dos program), so there image representation is more squished, and perhaps results in heavier coloring.. i dont know!

going to try and get the samsung panel but i hear its not a guarantee.

other than that, they're pretty much the same, with the 8600 being a bit too small for comfort at a font size of 96.

other general observations are the 9200 stays way cooler and rarely has to make noise with the fans, love the SD card (loaded ethernet drivers onto my 512mb sd card from my desktop system and the 9200 read it after a fresh xp pro install. no drivers needed for sd slot) reader, of course its also faster.
