HULK is a n00b, but everyone loves n00bs!
i've asked for help from every creator of every major ati tweaking utility... mostly russians. all i wanted to know was what tools they use to interpret the bios's hexidecimal code. i never got an adequate answer or many replies in general. w1zzard from techpowerup.com has been very helpful and the maker of rivatuner said to use IDA. i've looked around but never found anything like an editor resembling that name.

so with the general lack of help and resources, i've been forced to use pattern recognition and simple trial and error techniques. whack went to flash the 7 i posted, but i haven't heard back from him.

Arrow

FWIW: If the byte size of the hacked BIOS isn't the same as the original BIOS, you can almost guarantee a flash failure and toasted GPU.

Why would the GPU be fried? It sounds like it would be an internal locking method so that the GPU wouldn't get fried. I highly doubt the size of a BIOS will set off a GPU to burn.

in ways this makes sence, in others it does not. but if this is true then you should see some "space filler" code at the end of a short bios so it takes up the same amount of space as a previous version. has anyone seen anything that would be comparable to "space filler" code? (thought i saw some in the form of a lot of zeros in a previous post in another topic)

whack: in your sig you say your waiting for a copper heat mod... in the mean time you ever think of getting a laptop cooler to keep the temps down until (or even after) you get the stuff to do the copper heat mod? just wondering, i think a heat mod+lap cooler would be an awsome combo
