Overclocking and Temperature Monitoring

I'm wondering what options are available for overclocking the Prescott on a 9860. Is overclocking the FSB the only option and is there software to do that for Windows XP? I have a couple of books on overclocking and performance tuning but they are for older processors and so I am not sure how relevant they are. So far, I've never experimented with overclocking but am interested in it as a possibility.

When people talk about overclocking the GPU, are they doing that by overclocking the FSB or is it done some other way? I'm mostly interested in being able to overclock the CPU.

Is it possible to overclock while booted up i.e. suppose I just want to be overclocked while running a cpu intensive task and when it's done, go back to stock clocking?

What sort of software is available and recommended for monitoring system temperatures? Is this software free or is it something which I need to buy.

Thanks,

Dave
