logitech mx1000

i've just bought a logitech mx 1000 mouse, i've installed the software and connected the base to the usb port of my 4750 but the mouse isn't detected by my lappy!
i've tried the other 2 usb ports but still nothing... i've tried using the ps2 port and it works as a point and click device but none of the features work (scrolling etc)... on first installation the software detected the touchpad and informed me that i need to plug the mouse in a usb port so that i could use the features...

Hit the reset button on the base unit and the bottom of the mouse man. I had the same problem until I flipped those babies!

i've tried that twice and no go... i've uninstalled the touch pad driver and got it to work with the ps2 port but don't have the full functionality of the touch pad... no more scroll button and no tap click... and it still doen't work with the usb.
