Asus Z71V Spec *Available Here*
I'll post this in the FAQ as well, but wanted to give a heads up....
I've received this from RJTECH.COM regarding it. As many of you know, they've offer great prices and services to people in this forum community. They've been pretty responsive as well. If you have questions on it, just email them at info@rjtech.com Now on to Asus Z71V: http://www.smilepak.com/Z71V_Project.doc From what I was told, it will be available very soon around the corner. They should be offering it on their site anytime now. ƒÞ Intel Pentium M Processor with 2MB on-die L2 cache ƒÞ Speeds at 1.67G~2.5G (Dothan), 400 & 533MHz FSB; 2.5G~3G(Yonah) ƒÞ Intel Alviso 915 PM & ICH6-M ƒÞ 2 x SODIMM sockets for expansion up to 2GB (BTO option) ƒÞ 0MB on board memory ƒÞ Dual channel DDR2 DRAM support (SODIMM) ƒÞ 15.4¡¨ (wide) active matrix TFT, XGA, 256K colors max(TBD) ƒÞ Nvidia MEP43 (128Mb) ƒÞ VGA 640 x 480, 256/32K/64K/16.7M colors ƒÞ SVGA 800 x 600 256/32K/64K/16.7M colors ƒÞ XGA 1024 x 768 256/32K/64K/16.7M colors ƒÞ SXGA 1280 x 1024 256/32K/64K/16.7M colors ƒÞ UXGA 1600x1200 256/32K/64K/16.7M colors ƒÞ One VGA port/Mini D-sub 15-pin for external display ƒÞ 5 USB 2.0 ports ƒÞ Two Audio jacks : Head phone or SPDIF, Mic-in ƒÞ One RJ-11 for modem ƒÞ One RJ-45 for LAN ƒÞ One 1394 B Type jack ƒÞ S-Video composite TV output ƒÞ MiniPCI options of ƒå Intel Wireless Pro module supports Calexico 2(BTO option), 802.11 a/b/g compliant ƒÞ MDC options of ƒå AC Link Ver. 2.1 Compliant and V.92 / K56flex support ƒå Integrated universal PPT v.92 ƒÞ 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN built-in ƒÞ 356.5*275.5*35 ƒÞ <3kg ![]() |

I just don't understand why they put all this good stuff in and then cripple it with XGA...

I'm confused... it's a 15.4" widescreen, but the resolutions listed are all 4:3? So is it WUXGA, or WSXGA+ or WXGA? In general it looks extremely sweet, though. I wonder how much it will cost?

I wonder how does it actually look compared to the M6N series. From the pictures it look pretty nice. The chassis seems thin and sweet

Why oh why do so many companies avoid SXGA+ and WSXGA+. Do they figure that power users want UXGA and that 6 pack joe shopping at Best Buy only wants XGA? It drives me mad I say.

What's the Nvidia MEP43? Do they mean the NV43M (GeForce Go 6600)?

Just to add to the chorus of disappointment (in case Asus cares or RJtech have any influence). Why no WSXGA or WUXGA, why no enhanced screen? Another otherwise nice notebook has been ruined by poor choices in (to me) the most important part of any notebook - the screen.
