Dell Frustration

OK, I ordered a i9200 with a WUVGA screen. When I got it, it had a dead pixel . On 2/10 I requested a replacement system. I chatted Dell on 2/17 to check the status of the replacement order. I was informed that the order was cancelled on 2/16 (was not approved by a manager) and the order was resubmitted. I chatted Dell again today and got an order number. When I checked the order I found they were shipping with a XGA+ screen (not a WUVGA).

I have been using the WUVGA screen for a few weeks now and find it hard to read a lot of text. A lot of times I have to increase the font size in IE. So I wouldn't mind the XVGA+ screen. When I did a price comparison I could get the XVGA+ screen, upgrade to the DVD burner and get a snap cover for cheaper than what I paid. Needless to say I submitted a request for a return and ordered the new system.

I also upgraded to the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless because the system would ship 5 days faster.

I just had a bad feeling they would screw it up again or I would get a sparkly screen. I hope I did the right thing and will like the XVGA+ better (I read a lot on my laptop). I will keep you guys updated.

I checked the status of the replacement for the returned 9200 and they were going to ship it anyways. I luckily chatted them right away and got them to stop it before it made it to UPS. This is such a pain.

Cool Dell Frustration

Ya, it can be frustrating. I did so much research on laptops ... to the point where it started to become an obsession. Based on reviews, prices, features, and the ability to 'pimp' up your dell the way you like it ... Dell is the best deal going (currently). In it's price range & feature set, there is nothing that compares to the i9200. It's worth some of the frustration. I suppose it might come to the point where you lose it ... then you can start posting on http://www.ihatedell.org/.

Ok, latest update. THEY SHIPPED THE SYSTEM I CANCELLED...

I called and bitched them out. However, it worked out. I am keeping the system and they are sending me a snap cover and a DVD Burner for free. Seems like the new screen is fine. Resintalling the system now

how do you people find dead pixels. that amazes me...i have and had several lcd monitors and laptops and i can't find one dead pixel. i think people who find dead pixels are funny and seeing things..and wanting something for nothing...some day dell is gonna wait to verify that you really have a dead pixel before sending you a new one and before giving you freebies like snap cover and dvd burner.

How did I find a dead pixel? I looked at my screen and it had a bright red dot on it...

First off, I am glad you have never had a dead pixel... lucky you.

Secondly, if you read what I typed I didn't get something for free. I cancelled my order because they kept screwing it up and I reordered it. Because it had a cheaper screen (WXGA+) I could get more (DVD Burner and snap cover) for the same price.

They are sending the DVD burner and Snap Cover separate because they screwed up and sent a laptop that they should not have. However, the system they sent was the same as the one I ordered (minus the Burner and Cover).
