Some EQ2 shots in widescreen 1680x1050

some of the nasties you will eventually run into. I run in max texture settings and resolution for the 9860 laptop.

Looks very nice! EQ2 is very laggy on my 3.2GHZ desktop with OC x800. Can you give a quick breakdown of your settings? Is it laggy when you camera around, or smooth?

How is it in freeport/Qeynos? Is it a slide show?

Thanks,
DMA

Very nice. I think I played EQ 2 for all of 5 minutes, then went to buy WoW and been playing ever since. I think a lot of people wanted EQ2 to be more like the first, but you can never repeat that classic. Nice SS.

Thats funny, but I bought WoW and quit within a week because the game is just plain goofy. The graphics are terrible and the gameplay has nothing new, even worse, the game seems aimed squarely at kids. So I grabbed EQ2 and have been playing every since. I tried and tried to play WoW, but it just was not going to work 8(. All my friends tried, none of us liked it. It was just so hard to get past the crappy graphics and goofy animation. It was also laughably easy to level up. I love the quest system in EQ2, and the game now supports solo players and duo players just as much as it does full groups. Nothing touches the graphics or sound in an online game.

Now for the first question, the settings... Things hardware wise that make a LARGE difference in that game is 2gigs of memory, if you have one gig, nothing you will do will make it smooth anywhere, so there is no point in posting how I have all the many graphics options setup. If you have good fast 2 gigs of mem then you can increase the graphics a great deal and still stay smooth. On my laptop it plays awesome, but only after I plopped in the extra 1 gig of mem. I know this because on my desktop, it is the same deal, 2 gigs and X800XTPE + 3.2EE (running at 3.8ghz) runs the game with just about everything maxed out.

Graphics dont make a good game bud, look at EQ2 and AC2, both got terrible reviews when they released by every magazine, ign, gamespot etc.

EQ2 doesnt hold a candle to EQLive for the simple fact EQ2 is to linear, was rushed and the class's dont feel unique to each other, a conjurer is to much like a necro as a necro is to much like a conjurer, they dont develop until their late 30's.

WoW is a great game IMO and gave me the fun I had with EQLive. Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks I guess.

You may not like WoW but over 2 million people do, opposed to SOE losing 80,000 subscribers over the past 5 months.

You can Solo/Duo in EQ2? My problem with a lot of MMORPG right now is I just don't have consistent time to play, that's why I quit FFXII, it's hard to explain to your party in the middle fighting through some difficult area why you have to ditch them. But teaming up with a buddy in my dorm or something would be much more doable. I wouldn't mind a MMORPG where individuals control the party (a la single player FF games) but you can fight against other parties or team up for major fights/quests.

You can be happy just soloing in Lineage 2 and if you ever have time you can join a big group an do clan sieges. Really a duo is fantastic for xp in this game

WoW seemed ridiculously easy to me, I play FFXI quite a bit, due to the huge amounts of people around on it, I'm picking up EQ2 here in a few days going to give that a shot beyond the level 6 the Trial let me get to.. Graphics dont make a game, but they sure help

yeah it seems to me if people like a game they will say anything to defend it... grafix are an integral part of the gaming experience. someone could release a new mmorpg that is 8bit color grafix and no matter how good it is gameply wise, it is just not going to reach a wide audience. grafix, gameplay, sound, it all adds up, and the perfect game is strong in all of these areas.
