I am Grzesiek from Poland and I like to by my first laptop and my so i resolve to ask You about it.

I am e web designer and it will by my only computer
my requires are:

- 15,4" with 1280x800px with super quality
- dvd-rw
- min 512 ram
- min 1,5 Centrino
- about 2h on batteries

My choise for today is:

Well,
I have seen toshiba in shop it is popular in poland with many disributors and services, the laptop looks a little bit for mi like work station powerfull but not super nice.
it got 1 gb ram ! but i got on my PC 768 (os: windows 2003 server:its free) and its finer that 256 but not with "fireworks" so i think that 512 its ok and i can live with that

The radoen x600 hmm don`t impresses me becouse i don`t play games, sometimes the civilization II or tomb raider, i always got "wick 3d" cards like matrox g400 so You underestand.

The wi-fi hmm maybe i use it somethimes
Hard drive 40 Gb its enought for me, the speed is the main point

Weight: no matter
On battery time: toshiba 2h sony 3-4h : sony wins but it no matter

OS: the laptops are from Germany so they got the German Windows Home Edition i hade to buy Polish Home Edition (about 80 euro for OEM)

Prise: MATTER MATTER ! 275 euro its big money for me [its 1,5 month all costs of my apartment] and its about 1/6 prise of toshiba

The guaranty is important and the problem is that Sony Polnad dont sell notebooks and dont have services so if something goes wrong i got big problem with transport it to (i dont know) german sony services about 200 km without car and long time without "money maker tool". Toshiba got many sarvices and its not problem with that at all. The question is the sony fail ? (dont include the falldown or something like that)

Soooo finally
i dont ever have laptop
i dont even seen this sony (but i think its nicer and i will go with this laptop to clients so it better look expensive )
if sony is unfailing mashine i`d like to take it
